Couchsurfers
During a conversation with Skip, he said “Couchsurfing is self-selective. The people you meet who couchsurf will be much more interesting than your average person.” and I completely agree.
Some people may be hesitant at the idea of staying at a strangers place or joining on a spontaneous travel adventure with someone you barely know…
But that nervousness or distance we put...

Not that he didn’t give us his name..but we totally forgot to ask!

Danny, New Orleans, LA
By far the most interesting and deep person we’ve met on our roadtrip thus far. Danny is a charismatic street magician, who draws you in with his disappearing coins and rolling magic balls.
During our time in NOLA, we had a couple of not-so-positive experiences with the street performers here. For example, the ‘gold man’ saw our sign and I explained that we’re giving out...

Ricky, New Orleans, LA
On our walk to Cafe Du Mond (famous for their beignets and coffee), I spotted Ricky’s beautiful sweater and complimented it. He is a street artist selling wood pieces of New Orleans with his art on it. Great conversationalist. Fun guy. Lots of stories.
He helped transformed our FREE HUGS sign for $20. Yes, it’s a bit steep but we were supporting his company and his spirit. A nice...

New Orleans!
We finally arrive to NOLA after a 9 hour drive! Here’s a brass band playing classics.
Ate beignets at famous Café Du Mond, with fresh squeezed orange juice (probably the best we’ve had on this trip, could be all the sugar they added). While listening to this street brass band, they sang ‘when the saints go marching in’, mixed with ‘when the saints win the superbowl’ WHO DAT!
So...

Cracker Barrel (Ediburgh, Indiana)
We past by a Cracker Barrell and Troy turns to me and says ‘oh yeah, good country fixins’. I looked him dead in the eye…an announced, ‘I’m in!’. I never heard of Cracker Barrel before but I’m ready for some good-ass breakfast (photos posted soon). Turns out that this restaurant chain is located all over Kentucky and Indiana (I guess all over the midwesttt). They’re sprinkled all over...

Biggest life lesson he’s learned: “Be real”
2am, we walk into a 24 hr Fed Ex to buy a posterboard. Quiet store. We spot Mike. Standing behind sturdy, cluttered tabletop, we tell him what we’re doing with our free hugs and asked if he wanted one. Above is the result.
